The Festival CinémAnimé is an initiative of teacher L. Paixão to engage students in learning French through a task that allows them to  practice citizenship and further develop 21st century learning skills such as Knowledge Construction and Use of ICT for Learning.  As their culminating task, students are encouraged to create stop motion animations to promote awareness of environmental issues.

After being introduced to basic French vocabulary and language structures that can be used in their final activity, students learn the basics of storyboard and stop motion animation. Then, they use plasticine, paint and small objects to create their characters and scenes, plus iPad stop motion Apps and iMovie to put together their productions.
